This year’s JOTA is fast approaching.
Marc Charette has again taken the responablitly of organizing .
It will be great , Come on out and ENJOY a weekend at APPLE HILL.
We will have plently of radio operators to show the youth the world is truly a small place. They will have a chance to talk and make friends with people all around the world
Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is an annual event in which
Scouts and Guides all over the world contact each other by means of amateur radio. JOTA is a worldwide event and is held the 3rd full weekend in October. Units may operate for 48 hours, from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight, local time. We have elected to operate for 24 hours, from noon Saturday to noon Sunday, local time.
The date of the event this year is October 18 and 19, 2008 at Apple Hill South Scout Reserve. Campsites are available from Friday, October 17, 2008 for the weekend.
The theme of the program is “NO PROGRAM” as we encourage you to take advantage of Apple Hill Scout Reserves’ assets in helping leaders develop our youth members scouting skills at all levels. There are trails to explore and many acres of field and forest in which to camp and provide you with the space and time to hone their skills.
Of course there is the opportunity to speak with Scouts, and Scouters from around the world via the amateur radio stations set up by enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers from both Montreal and local radio clubs.
A brief outline of the event regulations and camp rules are listed below:
